MEET idarose

Mountain View has always been a city that solves problems by bringing people together. That's what I've spent years doing—serving on city commissions, supporting local businesses, protecting our environment, and building coalitions that make a difference. I'm ready to bring that experience to City Council, and keep building a stronger Mountain View for everyone.

My public service has taken many forms: sitting on three different advisory bodies for sustainability, community building, and parks, organizing large public events that unite our community, leading local nonprofits, including those related to smart city planning, history, public safety, and helping those in need, mediating difficult disputes among neighbors, and working with residents who often feel left out of decision making.

When the Mountain View community needs help, I always stand up for it. At the start of the pandemic, I saw restaurants going out of business, and food insecurity skyrocketing, so I jumped into action and created my nonprofit, Appetite for Good, helping dozens of restaurants survive while feeding thousands of families. In 2016 and again in 2024, I saw the need for our community to stand up together for each other, and have hosted dozens of community-building events, including several No Kings rallies with thousands of people. Last year, a neighborhood felt left in the dark about policies impacting them, so I helped them understand the complex policy issues, and showed them how to work with the city to get their voices heard. This year, a community member got hit by a car while on his bike near a construction zone, and I immediately worked to get the city to re-sign and re-cone the area, to prevent a worse accident.
